Yosi Mahardika

Music has been a lifelong passion for Yosi. He started learning instruments at the age of 6 at Yamaha Music School, where he learned to play electric organ and electric guitar to an advanced grade. He completed his study at SWCU (Satya Wacana Christian University) in Indonesia, earning him Bachelor of Music degree with piano as his major instrument, and classical guitar as his second instrument. He also found new interest in music theory, composing, and arranging, which led him to win a Composer of the Year award from the faculty during his study.

Prior to moving to Melbourne in 2023, Yosi has worked as a music director and educator since 2009. In his teaching, Yosi combines various methods and techniques accumulated through the years to create fun, engaging, and effective learning experiences in class. Knowledge in music theory, and experience in arranging and composing music allows him to impart in-depth understanding when working on a piece of music, and create one of a kind materials to cater for student’s needs and preferences.

Yosi believes that love for music is the best reason to pick up and learn an instrument, and you can expect to see his infectious (almost borderline nerdy) passion for music in his class. Exposure to many different genres of music allows him to connect with students from all ages and backgrounds, and his biggest joy in teaching comes from witnessing students expressing themselves freely through music.
